How to switch, in three steps
- Install OrbitDrop from the Microsoft Store. The button above opens its Store page. It's free, and the Store keeps it up to date without any security warning.
- Uninstall the GitHub version, so only one OrbitDrop runs: Settings › Apps › Installed apps › OrbitDrop › Uninstall. (Write down anything you changed in its Settings: it doesn't move over by itself yet.)
- Unlock everything: in the Store version, open Settings › Upgrade and choose Upgrade. Or try first: every Premium tool works 3 times for free.
Questions
Will the GitHub version stay free?
Yes. Everything in it today stays free and open source, and it keeps getting fixes and new free features. The Premium tools are simply part of the Store version.
Why only through the Microsoft Store?
So paying is safe and simple: it goes through your Microsoft account, refunds work the way the Store's do, and the upgrade works on every PC you sign in to, with no license key to keep.
Do the Premium tools upload my files?
No. Like the rest of OrbitDrop, they run on your PC. The AI tools download their model once and then work offline.
Can I hide the Premium tools in the GitHub version?
Yes: Settings › General › Show Premium tools. Turn it off and the crowned tools disappear from the wheel.
